LAUNCH FIGMA PROTOTYPE

Due to limited development resources, many of the interactive features in the prototype were not possible to create for the final launch. The designs underwent several revisions through collaboration with Nintendo and internal creative leadership.

VIEW AUGMENTED REALITY EXPERIMENT

As a personal project, I aimed to transform the 8-bit art from Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary assets into an animated 3D sequence. Please note that this experiment was not part of the campaign.

OVERVIEW

To promote the 35th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros., Nintendo collaborated with Amazon and utilized Amazon’s On Box Advertising and custom landing page.

The Amazon boxes showcased different illustrations of Mario characters for three distinct boxes that represented three different time periods: 8Bit, 2D, and 3D. Each box contained a QR code that customers could scan to access the custom landing page.

As the designer for this project, I began by creating the customer journey and wireframes before designing the custom landing page. The page featured a timeline spanning several years that highlighted fun facts, new releases, and hidden trivia related to Super Mario Bros. The landing page also enabled customers to earn My Nintendo rewards by clicking through to the Rewards site. To enhance the customer experience, I included custom code to create micro-interactions on the landing page.

Due to the popularity and nostalgia associated with the Mario brand, the Amazon boxes and Landing Page garnered significant social media attention.
