Overview
As the lead designer for Kimberly Clark’s home essentials line, I began by understanding the client’s needs and wants. To inform my approach, I analyzed data from their custom study on shopper preferences. The client was in need of a product selector tool that could streamline the shopping experience. They also wanted the ability for their customers to calculate an estimate of product need for Amazon’s Subscribe & Save option. Additionally, Kimberly Clark wanted to provide informative articles with helpful tips for creating a safe and happy home.
I created wireframes for each page of the experience, ensuring compatibility with both desktop and mobile devices. Following approval from internal and external stakeholders, I designed the user experience while prioritizing accessibility standards. Another responsibility was sourcing DEI-inclusive stock photos to align with Amazon’s initiative for representation in their advertising.
Using Sketch, I created a component library to construct every element within the landing page experience, including various button states. I aimed to maintain a clean and easily readable interface that consistently reflected the hub’s branding and tagline.
Upon landing on the hub’s home page, users gain immediate access to the product selector, featured articles, and highlighted products that can be added to their cart. The product selector tool consists of a series of questions that filter Kimberly Clark’s curated product list. Once the user reaches the final question, a recommendation is provided along with additional product information and shopping options. If an Amazon Subscribe & Save choice is available, it is presented first with dropdown options. Additionally, a lightbox can be triggered to assist users in estimating the quantity of product to choose.
In addition to the product selector tool, customers can navigate to the articles of helpful tools and tips. From each article, an everyday essential product type is represented and can easily redirect the customer to the product selector tool with the product type pre-loaded.
I collaborated closely with the Design Technologist throughout the project to effectively translate interactions and ensure that the design was represented correctly.
This project was thoughtfully approached from a UX and design perspective, with attention given to accessibility considerations. The project achieved significant results, delivering a user-centric experience for Kimberly Clark’s home essentials hub.
